Lake Whitney lies around 80 miles south of the Fort Worth/Dallas metroplex. It is a famous recreational destination for people from all over the country and beyond.

It gets over 2 million visitors every year who come to enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities including fishing, camping, boating, hunting, water skiing, sightseeing, and much more. Lake Whitney is also a great place to spend your July 4th Independence Day weekend this year.

For Independence Day 2021, you can watch fireworks shows on Lake Whitney at Downtown Whitney and the Lodge on Serenity Cove.

Lake Whitney Independence Day Fireworks at The Lodge on Serenity Cove

The Lodge on Serenity Cove will have 2 shows this weekend, a small fireworks show on Saturday and then a huge fireworks show on Sunday. Celebrate Independence Day at The Lodge on Serenity with live music, kids’ activities, food trucks, and a great spot to view the evening fireworks.

You can watch the fireworks from your car or even bring lawn chairs to enjoy the spectacle together with family and friends. During the day, there will be plenty of activities for children including face painting and bounce houses.

The fireworks start at dusk. Remember to party safely. Masks and physical distancing are highly recommended but not mandatory.

Downtown Whitney Independence Day Fireworks Show

Usually there is a fireworks show off the lake in Whitney, Texas, but we spoke with the folks at City Hall and there will NOT be a fireworks show in Whitney in 2021.

Lake Whitney’s 4th of July celebrations are fun galore for the entire family. The lake also happens to have a wide variety of fun activities all summer.

There are plenty of campsites around the lake with great places to relax and enjoy the evening fireworks spectacle together with family and friends.

The Lake Whitney State Park is also a short drive from three major cities in the region. It has been closed due to high water, but is due to open up before July 4th weekend. You’ll also find all the amenities you need including restaurants, shopping outlets, and museums in towns around the lake.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Dec. 11)

FAIR. Water normal stain; 60 degrees; 0.26 feet below pool. Catfish are good using punch bait in 18-25 feet of water. Striped bass bite is getting better on live bait or trolling in 20-30 feet of water. Some Stripers being caught on top water baits. Crappie are fair on small jigs and minnows in timber in 15-20 feet on the north end of the lake. White bass fishing is slow. Large mouth bass fishing is good around the docks.
