Lake Whitney

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 22)

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 81 degrees; 1.22 feet low. Fishing has been good, and should be shifting to the Fall patterns as the cold fronts roll through. As the temperatures decline, suspended fish should start moving up and feeding. Black bass are good on blue or black Carolina rigged plastic worms, diving crankbaits, bladed spinners and shaky head jigs near brush, timber and rock ledges in 12-22 feet of water. White bass are good along the main lake channel, flats and humps with white and chartreuse swimbaits and slabs. Stripers are good with live bait along the main lake river channel edges, and lower ends of the lake. Crappie are excellent with minnows and jigs in timber, creek channels and brush piles. Catfish are good on chicken liver, punch bait and live bait.
